Professor Qi Zhang's research group at the University of California, Davis currently has Postdoctoral positions available in the fields of atmospheric chemistry and aerosol studies. These positions are part of two distinct themes: one focuses on conducting field studies to understand aerosol sources and atmospheric processes, and the other theme is centered around laboratory investigations into aqueous aerosol chemistry. Our research involves the utilization of state-of-the-art real-time mass spectrometry instruments, including SP-AMS, LToF Vocus-CIMS, and ACSMs, as well as offline analytical techniques such as GC-MS and LC-MS.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, atmospheric sciences, or engineering obtained within the last four years. A robust foundation and expertise in mass spectrometry, advanced data analysis (e.g., proficiency with Igor Pro or Matlab), and instrument development are strongly preferred. The initial appointment is for one year, beginning immediately, with the potential for annual renewal based on performance, for at least one additional year. Later start dates are possible.

These are full time positions, and the posted UC salary scales https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table 23: Postdoctoral Scholar-Employee, Postdoctoral Scholar-Fellow, Postdoctoral Scholar-Paid Direct, Fiscal Year. The salary range for this position is $64,480-$71,908. "Off-scale salaries", i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.
