Dear Ce Chen,

I’m sorry for the issues. I’ll try to help you resolve them as quickly as possible.
Here are my initial questions:

  1. In the software, in the top left corner, please confirm whether the ‘Set ADC Parameters’ interface checkbox was checked, the user interface was opened, and then closed again to initialize these parameters prior to data acquisition. If it was not, this might explain why you hear the clicking sound when the transistor controls were toggled but are reading back irradiance and ozone values of zero. This is my current best guess as to what the issue could be, but let’s see.
  2. Please send me a photo of the front panel of the PAM electronics box – I’d like to check that the toggle switches next to the “O3 Lamp”, “PAMLamps1”, and “PAMLamps2” connectors are in the “ON” positions.

If needed, I’ll follow up with suggested next steps after I receive your response.

Best regards,
Andy

Subject: Questions about PAM chamber in using from PKU Lu group

Respected Dr. Andy Lamber,
I am Ce Chen, the Ph.D. student in the Keding Lu group from Peking University. Recently, I have some questions about the PAM chamber (OFR) in using and I will be very appreciate for your help. We are unable to use the Mode 185 and Mode 254 and the following is a detailed description of the problem and the steps we have alraedy taken.

The mercury lamp does not light up in both Moed 185 and 254, and consequently, our external ozone monitor detects no ozone production. We have tried operating the lamp in Mode 185 or 254 at various voltages (2V, 3V, 5V, 8V, 10V). Although the software interface indicates that the voltage is being applied correctly, but the lamp was not on. The system was functioning perfectly in previous experiments, with the lamp turend on normally and the ozone monitor showing clear readings.
Earlier today, while the AO1(Q1) was set to off and the voltage as 0 V but the main PAM was not completely powered off, we disconnected and then reconnected the power cable to the mercury lamp (185 nm) The problem occurred immediately after this reconnection. We did not perform any additional operations on the 254 lamps, while they could not light up, too.
We have investigated some possible faults, but still could not solve the problem of not being able to turn on the lights. In the PAM Controls software, toggle the transistor controls on/off and we can hear a clicking sound. Could you please advise on what the most likely cause of this problem might be? And if there is any further diagnostic steps we can take to identify the issue?
If this is indeed a hardware problem, could you please provide us with the contact information for your authorized technical support or service provider within China? We would like to request a repair or replacement as soon as possible.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. We look forward to your guidance.
